ISO’s Management System Thinking – The Business Case Learning Event

The focus of this training is to assist the Learner understand the business case for the adoption of Management System Thinking as a framework for planning, operating, controlling and improving the performance of an organization based upon the new structure for Management Systems, Annex SL. This online module while a stand-alone is best delivered with a specific ISO Management System Standard.

What Does Our Course Cover?

This learning event is a 4 hour/0.5-day course.

Topics covered include:

  • The Purpose and Business Benefits of a Management System
  • The difference between the ISO Management System Model and the process-based Business Model with the process-based Management System Model inside
  • The business case for adoption of an ISO based Management System
  • The Purpose and Explanation of the New Standard Structure and Terminology
  • The context of the Organization, the needs and expectations of interested parties, its linkage with the strategic direction of the organization, the scope of the Management System and Applicability                                                                         
  • The PDCA Framework and its Application within a Management System
  • The new and enhanced requirements for leadership, including management systems policy
  • The new and enhanced requirements for awareness and communication
  • Business Processes and their significance within a Management System
  • Risk Based Thinking and its Application within the Management System
  • Documentation and the differences between documented information, documents, documented requirements and records
  • Organization Knowledge and the purpose and benefits of managing organization knowledge in an organization and methodologies for successfully meeting this requirement
  • Control of externally provided products and services, identifying the scope, and the extent and type of control applying risk based thinking

Is This Course Certified?

This is a Kelmac Group® certified learning event.  It is also our intention during Q4 2015 to obtain IRCA approval for the ISO’s Management System Thinking – The Business Case Learning Event, our policy is the core element of this learning event will fully include the different IRCA disciplines and course criteria.  

How Will I Be Assessed?

The Learner is assessed based on participation and performance throughout the duration of the course. This includes all exercises, role plays, case studies and all other activities during the course. Please note, full attendance is required during the Learning Event.

Learning Objectives

This learning event covers two sets of learning objectives, IRCA and the Kelmac Group®.

IRCA, at the end of this learning event the Learner shall be able to:

  • Understand the changes arising as a result of the adoption of Annex SL
  • Explain the requirements for understanding the organization and its context, understanding the relevant requirements of relevant interested parties, and determining the boundaries and applicability of the management system to establish its scope
  • Briefly describe new and enhanced requirements for leadership, including management systems policy
  • Briefly describe the requirements for planning the management system, taking into consideration the organization and its context, and the needs and expectations of interested parties
  • Briefly describe new and enhanced requirements for awareness and communication
  • Outline the new and enhanced requirements for operational planning and control concerning outsourcing.

Kelmac Group®, at the end of this learning event the Learner shall be able to:

  • Understand the difference between the ISO Management System Model and the process-based Business Model with the process-based Management System Model inside
  • Know the business case for adoption an ISO based Management System
  • Know and understand the other International Standards on Quality Management and Quality Management Systems
  • Know and understand the ISO Conformity and Conformity Assessment Standards
  • Know and understand what is Accreditation and Certification, the Benefits and their significance for interested parties

This learning event is most suited for Business Owners, Executive Management Team Members, Line Managers and Industry Professionals who do not know anything about the requirements of ISO Management Systems and who may be considering the adoption of a stand-alone or Integrated Management System based upon the requirements of an ISO specific Management System Standard  etc.
